Discover the significance of the dormant volcano Maungawhau (Mount Eden), which stands proudly above Auckland city. Once a thriving pā   (Māori strategic stronghold), your kaiarahi (guide) will bring the mountain to life with stories, passed down through generations, as you explore the terraces and ascend the mountain. At the mountain summit, the highest geographical point in Auckland, views of the Manukau and Waitematā harbours, Rangitoto and beyond will take your breath away. Hear the story of how Auckland CBD came to stand where it is today, and the historical tale of how the mountain came to be. At the conclusion of the 90-minute guided walking experience (up to summit and on Maugawhau – Mount Eden) with your kaiarahi (guide), board your coach and continue on tour of Auckland en route to AUT. 

Cost: $135 per person (please book when you register for IGC 2020) *Includes road transport ex AUT, coach tour guide, Ngati Whatua Orakei cultural experience and tour guide, New Zealand Goods and Services Tax at 15%.

Minimum 20 people per coach and maximum 40.

When Aucklanders talk of an island paradise, they are referring to Waiheke Island which is 40 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland. With a permanent population of 9,000 people, Waiheke Island is home to 30 wineries, along with olive groves and dozens of local and internationally renowned artists. On this picturesque island there is a blend of farmland, forest and stunning beaches. With hot, dry summers and stony soils, Waiheke wineries produce unique, high quality wines based on cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec, cabernet franc and the recent move into chardonnay grape varieties. Highlights today will include lunch comprising a main course and dessert (no beverages included with lunch – delegates to pay directly for their own beverages), at a local winery, free time at Onetangi Beach, beer and wine tasting, olive oil tasting, free time at Oneroa town centre (suggest meeting a local artist, visiting Waiheke Community Arts Centre etc.). Some delegates may like to stay on Waiheke Island for dinner. All delegates will have been given round-trip ferry tickets so they can return to Auckland whenever they like. Travel back to Auckland on the 5.30pm ferry. On arrival back to Auckland ferry terminal, delegates are on their own to do whatever they like in downtown Auckland.

Cost: NZ$275.00 per person (please book when you register for IGC 2020). *Includes tour manager, round trip ferry tickets, road transport and driver, guide on Waiheke Island, lunch at a local winery (main and dessert), free time in Oneroa, beer, wine and olive oil tastings, New Zealand Goods and Services Tax at 15%.  No beverages included with lunch, delegates to pay direct for their own beverages.

9.40am delegates to meet the tour manager at Pier 2, Auckland ferry terminal, Quay Street.
